As you move through the woodland, you’ll begin to identify common trees and plants, discovering their traditional uses for food, medicine, and tools. You’ll also have the chance to try out natural navigation methods, learning how to find your way without relying on modern technology.

This course is designed for both complete beginners and those looking to improve their current skills. By the end of the day, you’ll see the woodland in a from a new perspective, understanding how to work with nature rather than against it.

The answers to those questions you are afraid to ask

Yes, we have a cassette toilet in camp and a straw bale urinal and a box for disposal of sanitary items.

No, Lizzy our lead instructor is also female. So you won’t be the only one.
Our courses are often an even gender split so although we can’t guarantee they’ll be other female course participants it is very likely.

Our courses are about skills and enjoyment not survival. We don’t run a boot camp, there is no rush on our sessions, or requirement to participate if you want to just sit one out. Once we are settled in camp we are predominately based from here with a few short 500m forays into the wider area.

We have had many a dodgy knee, or aching back in the woods, and still complete ability to engage in each session. Our team have a range of adaptations up their sleeves.

At the start and end of the course we walk into the woods about a 2km walk, we do this slowly over about an hour, looking at a range of different plants and tracks during the walk. If this might be a barrier for you do please pickup the phone – there are adaptions we can make.

No. We provide all the specialist kit you will need for the day including; leather gloves, knife, folding saw, tarpaulin and fire lighting options. A full kit list for the day can be found here. You pretty much just need to provide your food for the day and clothing to be comfortable in what ever the British weather throws at you.
If you’ve got any questions on what this might be that the kit list doesn’t answer please do just pick up the phone.

We can’t control the weather sorry! So make sure you look at the forecast and pack a number of layers, I always suggest bringing an extra two more than you think. Its always better to have one as a cushion than be cold.

If you are feeling the cold the best solution after putting on more layers and eating well is to gather some fire wood and build up the fire. They say that a fire warms you twice!

If the weather does make the course unsafe for any reason we will give you a 24 month voucher to rebook.

I can’t guarantee that I’m not a slightly strange person and thank you for liking the website.

But, yes we do have insurance, though AIM – Activities Insurance Mutual, we have £5 million public liability insurance, as well as professional indemnity insurance and a few others!

We rent the land we work on off the local estate, and have full permissions to be carrying out the range of activities that we do.

Our South London Site, is a brilliant spot, easily reached by car from the M25 and South London. Just off the Thamselink and Southern Lines into London Bridge and Victoria by train, and on the London to Paris Bike Route. The nearest postcode is CR3 5AL, and we provide a google map pin, and full step by step instructions on booking.

If your dog has full recall, and everyone else on the course is happy for them to be there then yes. If not to the group being comfortable, they will have to stay in the car during the course, or tired up outside of main camp. If they don’t have full recall then no they cannot come on the course. We have a healthly deer, fox rabbit and badger population in the woods and cannot cause undue stress to these animals, and a road bordering the woodland.

We will still welcome you to the woods with open arms. However, we do ask that you contract us before the course to discus what adaptions we can put into place to make your course most comfortable for you.

We have had mobility scooters and walkers in the woods before. But the paths aren’t a solid surface and have areas where they are uneven.

We had a wonderful day on Lizzy’s one day bushcraft course.
We learnt how to filter water, start a fire from nothing but wood(!), build a shelter from sticks and leaves and weave ourselves a rope made of nettles! What a day! We would throughly recommend it for anyone who enjoys the outdoors and fancies learning new skills.
Lizzy was great! Full of knowledge and enthusiasm, we would recommend this course for sure!

Had a fantastic day learning bush craft today, fire lighting, shelter building and much more, and although it was a bit rainy with heavy showers stayed dry under the parachute. Also just shows you don’t have to travel miles to feel like your in the middle of nowhere. Also covid Secure.

Me and my mum attended the bushcraft day course (foundation) with Lizzy and Luna. We had a fantastic day building a shelter, making fire and learning about some of the aspects of trees and all sorts in the woods. It was a Sunday VERY well spent. It has inspired me to spend more time doing these sorts of activities and learning more bushcraft. Would highly recommend. Great day and very welcoming vibe

A fabulous fun day with Lizzy learning and practising bushcraft techniques. We built a shelter, made dirty water clean, created fire using friction and learnt how to navigate using the sun and the stars. The woodland environment where the course is run is beautiful and peaceful, and Lizzy is an incredible fount of knowledge. We also discovered animal tracks and learnt about the woodland ecosystem, all accompanied by Lizzy’s gorgeous and friendly dog Luna. Lizzy says that after a day’s course you will never see woodland the same again – and she is right. We would thoroughly recommend Lizzy and her bushcraft courses whether you need some.practical knowledge for a specific reason or just want a thoroughly enjoyable day out. Great course, great company, brilliant Lizzy.

I did the Introduction to Bushcraft course with Lizzy; she clearly has an insane amount of knowledge and practice and is very personable, imparting what she knows with patience and humour.

I loved being out in the woods and felt like I learned a huge amount in only scratching the surface of bushcraft, and now that I’ve been introduced to it I’m excited to dig deeper – I would definitely recommend and will almost certainly return for more!
